"Meet our DJ's" - Stevie Jones

As part of a series of interviews, we wanted to catch up with some of our Resident DJs. Everyone, please meet Stevie Jones, DJ and Producer from Ireland, residing and living in Glasgow.

Q: Hi Stevie, tell us a bit about yourself

Vinyl addict from 16years old and use to jump around different friends homes learning the craft on turntables then purchased my technics when I turned 18 and that was the beginning! Started studying music production in 2020 with SubSine Academy/Soma Skool, Glasgow and currently in the process of completing their artist course this year. I am also a member of FMM (Finish More Music) to further my knowledge of music production and network with like minded artists passionate about electronic music.

Q: Tell us a little something about your Clubbing history, when did you first hear Electronic Music being played?

Back in the 90’s at the infamous Circus Circus in Bandbridge, Northern Ireland at the age of 16. I was hooked the minute I walked into the place. It was unforgettable!

Q: Which would be your dream club to play?

Sub Club Glasgow

Q: Describe your style of music you play or produce

I’m very open minded about styles and try to put bits of everything I like into my productions so can’t really pin and particular style but I like to mix between melodic breaks to progressive house/melodic techno but pretty much anything with a deadly groove will grab my attention!

Q: Which Artists/DJs inspire you?

Dee Montero, Stan Kolev, Richie Blacker, Quivver, Sasha Carassi, Riigs, Framewerk, Rodriguez Jr., Four Candles, TSHA, John Monkman, Slacker, Stanton Warriors, Overmono, Guy J, Anthony Pappa, Maceo Plex and the list could go on forever!!

Q: Tell us about your Tracks, what has been most successful, and who have you been signed to?

My most successful track to date would be ‘EMIT’ which was part of a 2 track EP ‘Moments In Time’ which was signed and release by Krafted Digital. EMIT hit No.1 in Progressive House releases and reached No.9 in the main overall progressive house tracks as well as getting featured in Hype picks by Beatport and into the top 20 Hype charts and almost 10K streams on Spotify from Its release in January. ‘Crispy Rain’ which was track 2 of EP managed No.2 in Tech House Releases so was more than happy with that. ‘Derty Plucker’ Is a 3 track EP with my earlier music signed to Abstract Tech Records and hit No.1 in both Funky House & Indie Dance releases and also ranked No.39 all over releases at the time. My 2 track collaboration with Mark Tammo that was signed and released by Framewerks Capital Heaven hit No.1 in Breaks releases and received a lot of great support. My first every solo release was ‘Moving On’ signed and released by Sound Optix reached No.1 Indie Dance releases, No.4 Melodic House/Techno and No.19 all over releases. Labels signed to : Krafted Digital Capital Heaven Sound Optix Hexagonal Magic Moment Zephyr Records Abstract Tech Deep People BBOP MUSIC Saline Recordings

Q: Tell us about your show on 4 Beat Radio, and how did you first get involved?

Derty Fusion is the name of my Saturday fortnightly show and can expect a mixture of melodic breaks to techno and everything groove in between. I became friends with Jon Towell who invited me to meet the team onto the show and the bromance has blossomed from there. Great bunch of like minded lads!

Q: Tell us 3 things we don't know about you

I use to be a stage dancer and done Ibiza club tours in and around Ireland and parts of Ibiza but the old hip and knee joints are quite the same anymore so figured music production would be the safest option for me right now :) Favourite pizza is banana and ham sourdough! I lived in Ibiza in 2004 and was lucky enough to get to play at some of the best clubs and parties on the island and got to squirt Alex P in the eyes with Jack Daniels & Coke from a super soaker whilst djing for Manumissions 10th Anniversary party!

Thanks for your time Stevie! We look forward to hearing you on Saturday!
